What is clogs?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clogs
Reply:The word clog, as applied to footwear, has these meanings:-
A type of shoe or sandal made predominantly out of wood.
A type of boot or shoe with leather sides and uppers and wooden soles. They may have steel toecaps and/or steel reinforcing inserts in the undersides of the soles.
A special kind of shoe worn while clog-dancing (clogging). They are similar to tap shoes, but the taps are free to click against each other, therefore producing a different sound than tap shoes.
Nowadays, %26quot;clogs%26quot; also means comfortable slip-on shoes. They are often made out of leather, but some clogs keep the bottom part out of wood. All-rubber clogs are often worn while gardening, because they can be easily hosed off and allowed to air-dry. Some clogs come with heels, and are usually distinguished from mules by their higher vamp. It is commonly accepted that men and women can wear low-heeled or high-heeled clogs.
Clogs (with meaning 1 or 2) were, and in some regions still are, widely worn by workers as protective clothing in factories, mines and farms. Another name for a wooden shoe is sabot.
Traditional clogs were made out of willow or poplar wood and are associated with the Netherlands and Sweden as part of the touristic %26quot;Holland%26quot;/Swedish image, where they are seen as a form of national dress. Because of this, Dutch people are sometimes called cloggies, that is, clog-wearers. In Dutch, clogs are known as klompen. The traditional, all wooden, Dutch clogs have been officially labelled as safety shoes, passing European standards for the CE mark with flying colours. Today, Dutch clogs are available in many tourist shops. Wearing clogs is considered to be healthy for the feet.
In England, clogs were traditionally made of alder and were commonly worn by all classes throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. The Lancashire cotton mill workers habitually wore clogs because of the wet floors maintained in the cotton mills. There is a theory that clogging or clog dancing arose in these mills as a result of the mill workers entertaining themselves by syncopating foot taps with the rhythmic sounds made by the loom shuttles. Clog dancing became a widespread pastime during this period in England. During the nineteenth century, competitions were held and there were professional clog dancers who performed in the music halls. One such professional dancer was John Carr of Newcastle under Lyme, who appears in the English census of 1871 and proudly proclaims his employment as %26quot;Professional Clog Dancer%26quot;.
Clogs are traditional also in northern Italy.
Pattens are an overshoe variant of sandals or clogs meant to protect other footwear by either covering or elevating it above the street.

Wooden shoes. The Dutch word for these are %26quot;klompen%26quot;
I was born in a village, and used to wear them as working boots. It%26#039;s safe and warm for your feet. But it%26#039;s noisy.
There are traditional Dutch dances, in which the %26quot;klompen%26quot; are the musical instrument. Some people here still hang up one or two klompen at the wall in their back yard or at the front door, to grow a plant in it.
Usually made of willow wood, because that does not easily break.
Reply:Traditional clogs are made from a moist canadian wood and once carved out are set to dry and become very light weight. These were designed because they%26#039;re basically water proof foot wear.
Modern clogs have a wood bottom with rubber grip.If for a girl they can be made to look like sandals with a covered toe. They also use a leather top for both men and women.

My friend has them and her feet are way smaller than mine, and I can%26#039;t find one! If you know any places, please tell me. Make it be in Pennsylvania if you can. Kay thxs!
Here%26#039;s a pic of it (It can be in any color, but it has to look something like that): http://www.everythingbirkenstock.com/ima...

Reply:Ae used to sell them last season.
Reply:If you%26#039;re looking for authentic Birkenstocks, then you%26#039;ll have to go to a shoe store that carries them. AE carries their own brand of shoes and not Birks. Check out stores at your mall or a local shoe store. I live in a tiny town and our local cobbler carries them, so you should be able to find a source.
Reply:Birkenstocks you can get off Ebay, at Macy%26#039;s, Perisans. Birkenstocks last a long time. if i were you, id get real ones.

Reply:Oh! I love my Birkenstocks! I have the Boston model, they%26#039;re the ones that AE knocked off. I got mine in Berlin but you can find then at Nordstroms or Outdoors outfitters like Eastern Mountian Sports.

That%26#039;s the same shoe that I have.
Reply:don%26#039;t get them..clogs are kinda not attractive in my opinion. get uggs instead
Reply:you have to go to their website and look at them, they are pretty ugly, unless you like shoes that look like kleenex boxes.
I have two pair and my husband wears em too, but they are really ugly. Totally comfy, but ugly.
Also, the bottoms are really slippery on wet tile, like if you come in from the rain and walk on a tile floor, you may slip...I ALWAYS slip a little.

Where can I find comfy clogs?
I know I am a fashion nightmare but I had a pair of suede clogs (flat no heels!) that I LOVED and had forever. Finally the soles broke and I threw them out without know that you can get them repaired. I keep seeing clogs but the toes are always just a little too pointy or they have heels on them. Help me find some! :)

I just bought my first pair of clogs (Tatami Silverlake, leather). If I wear them barefoot will they get smelly? The footbed surface is sort of suede.
Barefoot in clogs?
wear socks but if you don%26#039;t want them to show buy ultra lowcut socks. they sell them at journeys
Reply:wear socks..
if not they will start to smell extrememly bad
and, plus, your feet get all sweaty and gross
Reply:eww wear socks.i know a girl who never wears socks with her birks and it looks and smells super nasty.
Reply:Depends on what you are wearing and for how long. If I am just running up to the store I will wear clogs with no socks. However, if I am wearing them for an extended time I will wear socks with clogs.
Reply:Your feet will get smelly in any shoes, especially if you don%26#039;t wear socks. Why bother with shoes anyway when there is a far more healthier and comfortable option?
Reply:yea they will ut i no a trik to help them not get sweaty soak your feet in warm water with ALOT of lemon/lime juice cuz the citris calms sweat glands......... i dont wear clogs anymore but i used to wearno or really light sox....:-)

Dirtyfeet from clogs?
I have these black sponge clogs that the black makes my feet filthy. Most of my friends go barefoot in their house. The other day I noticed my girlfriend kept looking at my feet. I couldn%26#039;t tell if she was disguested,or thinks my feet are good looking. (They are by the way) She didn%26#039;t say anything though. Would other girls out there think I just run around barefoot,or would you care?
Dirtyfeet from clogs?
Dirty feet are never nice to look at, even if it is as a result of the dye coming off from the clogs.
Why not get some inner soles to protect your feet from getting the nasty black color on your beautiful feet?
Reply:A good way to get rid of the coloring is a foot brush and a file the body shop has and excellent foot file%26quot;Spoon%26quot; I love it and their foot products are amazing!!!
You can go here to take a look at the products yourself! I hope this helps!
Reply:U can go barefoot or in clogs, but it will dry ur heels, but dont panic!
U can solve that . when u shower make sure that u dont neglect ur feet and pay special attention to ur heels, wit a pumice rock to get all the dry, dead skin off, then, rub ur feet, and specially the heels, with a foot cream and then put socks, do all this at night right b4 u go to bed, u%26#039;ll see the diference in the morning!

Are you a fan of clogs, kleppers, crocs, birkenstock, and other health shoes?
Which do you wear? Why are you a fan? Do you wear yours only at home or anywhere? Are you a guy or girl? Age?
I wear all the above, because they are healthy and in Germany they are quite popular. I%26#039;m doing my Grad work in the US and have just started to go out with my kleppers, many of my friends thought they were girl shoes. They are not, Americans accept me wearing my clogs, but think it odd when I wear kleppers. I won over a few guy converts, but they wear them at home only. I%26#039;m a guy. 24.

Do what you like!! Do what your heart tells you and forget what comments people make. If you are confident and they are good for your feet, people may start asking you about them and you have the opportunity to explain their benefits. This is how new trends start for goodness sake!
